That statement will make a very nice :30 commercial for the Republicans and I'm sure they will milk it for all its worth.

In the meantime, this provides a welcome distraction from the fact that the Trooper-Gate investigation is being moved up. But, there is one other thing happening that may impact her and that is the upcomong trial of Sen. Ted Stevens. Nothing in Alaska happens in a vaccuum - this man was the linchpin for her pork supply. Did she somehow benefit, directly or indirectly, in this same manner? What could come out at trial? She was schooled by working on his 527...I wonder if there is anything there. The timing could be interesting.

Remember Admiral James Stockdale was the highest ranking naval officer held as a POW in Vietnam. He was also later known for being Ross Perot's Vice Presidential running mate back in 1992. Stockdale infamously opened the debate by saying, "Who am I? Why am I here?" The audience later found out he didn't have his hearing aid turned on. The whole thing was very sad to watch, really.

John McCain is reducing his POWhood to schtick - time for some successful former POWs to speak out and tell McCain to cut the crap.

I really feel John McCain and his campaign are about 25 years too late for the POW meme to have much effect this election cycle. Besides, aren't we friends with Vietnam now? Look how many American companies have shipped manufacturing jobs to that country. To me, all this POW talk makes McCain seem REALLY OLD - like from another generation OLD - like so last century OLD!

FRankly, I think Sen. Leahy is on to something equating McCain's confusion, disorientation, misstatements, etc. with Reagan's last few years in the presidency when he was exhibiting the early stages of Alzheimer's. Maybe McCain can't define honor because he doesn't remember what it means to be honorable.
