  • We don't just need a soldier. We need a leader.
John McCain is trying to elicit pity and he thinks that if America feels guilty enough that we'll give him the presidency. But America has many heroes and not all of them have the temperament and capability to be a good president. John McCain doesn't. We'd be happy to honor him with a parade, but demanding the presidency as a reward is dishonorable.

  • If Obama leaves you cold, maybe you haven't been listening very well. He warms my heart and sooths my mind and I've been digging into everything I could find that he said or did for over a year now. Now McCain gives me lots chills up my back. On the war and on the economy I really think that he could lead America to the very brink and maybe even fall over. All the other super powers in the world's history fell apart. We shouldn't think that it could never happen to us. The national debt is moving into having a life of it's own and it isn't a benevolent life. It's a monster without feeling that doesn't care who or what it destroys. We need Obama and we need to avoid any more Bush policies with McCain. Do you really doubt that?

  • Bill reminded me why I used to love him and he and Hillary healed my feelings. I am very grateful. Time for all of us to get to work! Register some high school seniors or college students to vote and then make sure they make it to the polls. Talk to everybody you meet. There's a lot at stake and it could be the death of someone if we get it wrong this time. It's already been the death of over 4,000 someones.

  • Bill reminded me why I loved him and I am filled with gratitude to Hillary. If I can experience such a transformation of feeling, then others can too. How about if we don't tear the scab off a wound that is beginning to heal. It's a dumb thing to do if our goal is a Democrat in the White House. Did you listen to the beautiful young Major in the service who spoke with such eloquence but left the stage on artificial legs. There are things of greater consequence at stake. If you can't say somethin' nice, don't say nothin' at all. If you have an urge to snark, it may mean that you aren't working hard enough. If you spend a lot of time making phone calls, canvassing door to door, talking to your neighbors, hair dresser, store clerks and everyone you meet, you may do some good and I can promise you that you won't have any urge to talk about things that are counterproductive.

  • First of all, Obama was a young kid when he did his experimenting with drugs and he pulled himself out of it by his sophomore year in college. Secondly, I don't know how McCain treated Carol other than the fact that he has admitted to multiple affairs during their marriage. Women are going to attribute some character to that and many people believe that character is central to the requirements of the presidency.

  • Senator Cochran(R), fellow POW Phillip Butler and many others have expressed grave concerns about McCain with regard to his loss of all reason when he becomes enraged. His own mother told us that when he was a kid that he often became so enraged that he lost consciousness. In high school they called him McNasty because he fought all the time. He has a lifelong anger problem that was enhanced by PTSD. This is not hype. This is a central problem with the concept of McCain as president. When you couple this with his oft repeated emphasis on dealing with many problems by starting a war, this is real cause for concern. I don't intend to allow these very real concerns to be made into something that is just partisan hype. Between his views on Bush's policies, his eagerness for war, ("There will be many wars my friends, many wars.") and his red hot temperament, I believe McCain is dangerous to America.

  • Not a daft lead up to the announcement. It was a great plan. It captured the imagination---and the news coverage---for several days. CNN gave it tons of coverage. Any time you have the news and the country waiting with bated breath to hear words drip from your lips, that's probably a good thing.

  • Nobody vets just one VP and nobody is going to tell Hillary, or anybody else, that they will be the VP pick before they've been vetted. Obama's campaign did a more thorough vetting this year then has been done in the past. If Hillary was hoping to have certainty before she cleared the vetting process, then she was being unrealistic. Another point, however, is that neither Caroline Kennedy or any top person was spilling this stuff. One has to wonder about the validity of the "anonymous" quote. I'm more than a bit tired of junk like this that can't be proved or disproved and that comes from people who aren't named and are held accountable. If it's true, it's more of that, don't question the Queen stuff and it's disgusting. If it's a lie it's character assassination and it's disgusting. who knows?

  • Do y'all remember when Carville said that if Obama won the primaries that he would support him and work for him 100%?? Has anyone noticed Hillary or her top surrogates "working their hearts out for Obama"? If the top people in the old democratic party try to sabotage the democratic candidate for president this year, then we need to throw the bums out. They don't know how to make enough money to feed themselves if they aren't political hacks, but Geesh, it shouldn't be this hard to tell the democrats from the republican opponents. And WTF is the deal with the Clintons having to be consulted before Obama can choose his running mate? These people are really suffering with over the top senses of entitlement. p.s. I don't for a minute think that James Carville and Paul Begalla would be trying this degree of stuff without Bill or Hillary or both knowing about it and at least giving the wink.

Lots of room for more verses!

Can you find your Ferragamos in the west?
Did you lose your old red marbles?
