  • It surely is a lot too little a lot too late. The horse errr elephant is already out of the gate and headed for the finish line. Amazing that the Administration allowed the contracts to their buddies to go so unaccountable that the amount that contractors bilked the tax payers rose to these astronomical levels. We just have to elect Barack to get these thieves out of our pockets. McCain, sadly, has sold his soul to the neocons after his long fight against waste. It will be years and years before we are able to investigate and hold these thieves accountable. By that time, no doubt the entire Bush and Cheney cabal should have been marched before the Hague for war crimes against humanity.

  • Actually TPM, keep up the good work. I never read the WashPo so I like getting this sort of sleaze so I can write them and remind them that they need to act like journalists at least every once in awhile.

  • Yes, we got a loan to pay off our first and second mortgage and the rate was slightly higher, but we got it a month ago. I guess I got a better rate from shopping around, in fact after checking with 3 mortgage companies. So shame on me, eh? Sweetheart deals are made when the loan recipient gets a discount of thousands of dollars and no one else gets the same break. But, but, but, ummmm anything to try to give Obama a bum wrap. Dear WashPo, your hit job ain't working!!!!! We know exactly what malfeasance is after the nearly 8 years of Bush.

  • Hmmm after the last Florida poll results got to McCain, he probably blew his cool, swore a string of ugly words and screamed, "I want those @&+@$&* shut up so do what you have to do. SOP for McCain. He is one of my Sednators and in fact, I am beginning to wonder if McCain simply has the problem that he is unable to read. Nothing that Clark or Webb said denigrates McCain's service nor his patriotism. Must be that McCain's campaign is so out of steam that he has to manufacture some bruhaha to get any attention. My advice to McCain, GROW UP!!!! At your age, you better hop to it or things get more and more hopeless as the years stack up. And neither of us in our 70s have that much time to waste.

  • McCain working to keep this story in the headlights could be great for Obama. So much good information came from Clark. Clark can have another round of interviews so he can state his point of view. the more times the better , in fact. I really appreciated Clark's factual, reasoned, methodical statements on exactly what should be considered a plus in the resume of any person running for office. I liked it that Clark kept it simple and factual. I know it is a difficult concept for Republican's to get their heads around, so I expect them to continue to interpret what was said in their same, narrow-minded way. But in the end, it only shows McCain's lack of intellect if he cannot read the statement and get the gist of what Clark said. Hmmm, McCain, the old straight talk expresser has dwindled to the political hack I am now guessing he always was.

  • Frankly, Lieberman is admitting that all the spending in Iraq, for sure the taking ones eyes off of Afghanistan, the total ineffectiveness of DHS due to the sorry behavior of the Bush favorite, "Good Job" Brownie and of Chertoff after Katrina. McCain's buddy, Bush 2, has utterly flopped and cannot keep our country safe. Even with the expenditures of billions and billions of dollars, Lieberman admits his guy cannot keep us safe. What an indictment against the administration and Lieberman's buddy, John McCain. Lieberman is standing up for more years of the same. Hmmmm, I can hardly believe what is in store for us if it is going to happen or to see the embarrassment of Lieberman if it does not happen. But mark my word, Lieberman and Black have issued the invitation to the bad guys to come on over and attack us. God help them if it happens. for the problem this administration and their buddies are allowing to happen.

  • This not at all subtle comment by Black illustrates the mind set of the Republican Party at this time. That once noble party that produced folks like Lincoln and Eisenhower HAS LOST IT'S WAY. BUSH HAS TOTALLY MESSED UP OUR COUNTRY. I had thought the party would wise up. Instead we get a candidate who has made himself into a clone of GW. Black was a leader in the Republican Party and his invite to enemies of U S to make a raid on us as a political gimmick says volumes about the depths to which Republicans have sunk. I had hopes that the post Bush era in the party would see the party recover. Alas, there is no hope for the party since McCain has sold his soul to the nastiest, most corrupt group in the Grand Old Party, the GW Bush junta. I take heart that the voting public has finally wised up and has accurately counted the cost in lives, treasure, and good name of our country if the Presidency goes to a GW clone. VOTE OBAMA. SAVE AMERICA!!!

  • It is amazing that anyone even reads he writings. They are so caustic and anti=Democrat that she is very predictable. I am sure her antipathy with Hillary is deeply psychological. Her attempts to destroy Hillary were so obvious but Hillary did not buckle so you can see why Dowd hates her. However, her comments about Bush are equally disgusting. I do wish she could just make her point without her nasty side becoming the issue instead of what she writes. I doubt that that will ever happen though she is so hell-bent on her vicious mode of operation. I read her comments sometimes just to get my system stirred up. But I always know I will end up ignoring what she said.

  • The big problem for Cindy McCain is in her past. She forged a volunteer Doctor's name on prescriptions and then stole the drugs that were delivered to her charity. In other words, she stooped to stealing drugs from her children's charity. If she insists on maligning Michelle's patriotism, she needs to face the fact that many of us are fact checkers and I simply put her name in the search engine and out popped not only the fine work she did in her work with children, but also her criminal activity that was never prosecuted in a fair way due to her connections. Her criminal activity should not surprise us since her father and I think even her Grandfather were convicted of crimes. My advice to you Cindy, stop throwing hate bombs when you live in a glass house. In comparison, your past does not stand the smell test for legality even. I admire your work with children and the fact that you "went straight and kicked the drug habit, but that does not excuse your comments about some one else.
