Why is Hoyer doing the dirty work? If the republicans want this bill so bad, let them be the "go-betweens". Otherwise, let it die. This won't look good for your next re-election campaign, Mr. Hoyer.

When the whole crowd is filled with a bunch of unprincipled criminals, it doesn't take much to appear like some kind of beacon of democracy. It just goes to show how bad the Bush gang really is.

(and every week I say to myself, "just imagine if Clinton had done something like that". Yet nothing happens. Then I realize that there was no sex involved so it is OK)

Agreed with Tony: how can they "secretly" take away our constitutionally protected rights? What other secret memos are lurking out there that have taken away any of our other rights? What country is this, anyway?

Don't you just love it when a neocon lawyer can just sweep away our 4th Amendment rights with a memo? Wow

And, if I recall my US history, wasn't the 4th established precisely because the people were tired of British soldiers (i.e. MILITARY) barging in to their homes without a warrant?

They're going to have to do a lot better than that to justify their crimes.

That's exactly what the Shrubbery does not want anyone to find out.

There is no danger of anyone at the telecoms going to jail or suffering financial penalties. In fact, the Shrubbery would throw them under the bus too if they could.

The telecoms are quite capable of defending themselves from any wrong-doing. All they have to do is spill the beans.
