Wait... Joe Lieberman "saved" Clinton's presidency? Wow, that's a pretty interesting reading of what happened there, and not one I've had anyone try to sell me before.
It sure looked to me like Joementum tried to separate himself from what he perceived to be an unpopular president, cynically attempting to create the perception that he was the "moral values" Democrat - and hoping to succeed Clinton in the 2000 election.
Of course, Clinton was popular with most Americans, who eventually saw the impeachment for what it was - a blatant power grab designed to foul-up the works for as long as possible (it worked).
Not the first time nor the last time that Joementum has been out of step with reality.Posted at December 13, 2005 1:41 PM in response to Lieberman Update

I'm a registered Democrat, and I can still remember the anger I felt when Joe-mentum helped the Republicans' blatant and hypocritical impeachment proceedings by throwing Bill Clinton under the bus. His actions now are just as self-serving, and just as outrageous. To all you so-called "centrist" Democrats out there, I don't care how many times he has voted with the party on critical issues.
Like McCain, his choice to stand with the Bushies shows him to be a hypocrite, self-serving above all else, and is enough for me to support whoever opposes him in the primary.

The use of Denzel's movie Man On Fire as an example of how hollywood glorifies torture was a good one. However, Denzel also made The Siege (with Bruce Willis). That movie has an excellent example of the use of torture and how it's a bad thing.
The Siege also turned out to be quite precient on the subject of the erosion of civil liberties after a terrorist attack and the reaction (overreaction) of certain "bad" elements in the government. With an ending where the good guys win, I enjoy watching it if only to give hope that all is not lost, the revesals of civil liberties don't have to be permanent and cooler heads can prevail.Posted at November 7, 2005 4:44 PM in response to Man on Fire--Not!
