the internet has finally come into its own as a force in political campaigns and it's really wonderful that it has finally done what decades of campaign finance reform could not do; get the big money out of politics and replace it with small donors.
I think the fatal flaw of previous attempts to get rid of the big money is that there was no serious attempt to replace it with another funding source. Political campaigns need money and if you don't give them an alternate, viable source for it, they will go for the tried and true, the big money donors.
There really are the makings of a new Democratic majority that could last a generation or longer. There is the thirst for change; the Reagan era has finally ended. There is this revolution in fundraising and right now, Obama and the Dems own it; the GOP isn't even close to getting clued in. It's like iPod vs. Zune.
Let's not blow it guys and gals. We are on the eve of something huge.

sure, but that doesn't mean that only scholars are capable of reading deeply on a topic and fully comprehending it. In general, of course, I would trust a history scholar first and foremost, but it would be foolish to automatically disqualify anybody who isn't a scholar from having a worthy say on the topic.
Otherwise, for instance, none of us would be worthy of commenting on John Yoo's 'interesting' interpretations of the Constitution, because he's a legal scholar and you are not.

it makes perfect sense for Bush to compare talking to one's enemies, with appeasement; to a wingnut, holding your breath til you turn blue is how you display your strength. To the adults in the world, however, it looks like a childish tantrum and shows the very opposite of weakness.
Or maybe Bush equates talking to one's enemies with appeasement, because he is a really piss-poor negotiator and he WOULD give away the store. Look at North Korea (worse deal than Clinton had negotiated), Iran (greatly strengthened by the Iraq debacle) and Russia (Bush got punk'd by Putin).

I can't believe that anybody with any sense whatsoever is arguing Hillary's side with a straight face.
She was against counting FL and MI before she was for it. That's a fact.
Saying that Hillary 'won' Michigan and Florida 'fair and square' is like saying Saddam won re-election fair and square last time he was 'voted' upon. Never mind that he, like Hillary, was the only name on the ballot.

I'll cut McCain some slack. He probably didn't take his Geritol this morning and he needed to lay down for a nap.

It seems like flubbing a fact about troop levels is a bit of a gaffe for someone who regularly attack his opponent's experience and fitness to be commander in chief.
That's nothing compared to calling your great-uncle your uncle, or mixing up the name of a Nazi slave labor camp with a Nazi death camp!

The Arizona Republic's website, azcentral.com, has studiously avoided any mention of the fact that the fundraiser was moved from the Phx Convention Center because they sold too few tickets.
