  • But, but, we'd be unpatriotic if we with hold monies from the Executive Branch - we wouldn't be supporting the troops - we are already withholding nomination confirmations (look where that has gotten us, no functioning FEC and there are several acting deputy XYZs that will be acting until the end of the term in violation of law) and so on.

These suggestions from the White House are bogus, and they know it.

  • Nobody does compromise quite like the Bush administration.

That is a quote for the books.

Maybe an alternate word for compromise would be Cheney-ise?

  • Former Chief Council to the Pentagon Haynes really screwed the hootch by saying, "We can't have acquittals, we've got to have convictions." Now that the cat is out of the bag (and not just the grumblings of a few liberals) the Bush PR is going to have to work hard.

Isn't it interesting that they are going to ditch the press inorder to miscarry justice? With secret prisons, secret laws, secret 'justice', tell me the difference between US and the former USSR gulag. Scale. That is all.

  • Yoo testify, and Addington a maybe? Humph. They are plotting something. It won't be the truth, but it certainly will be interesting.

  • Lieberman is 'only the chairman of governmental oversight' is one of the reasons we are in the mess that we are in now, no oversight. No oversight of the financial world, no oversight of the Pentagon (spending, covert operations, methods of war making, anything), no oversight of the DoJ, no oversight of the FEC, no oversight AT ALL over the DHS. And so on.

The problems with leaving Lieberman in his position are that the baddies will get away with what they have been doing, the baddies will keep on doing what they are doing, there will be no new oversight rules written, and so the baddies will forever keep on doing what they are doing. Is this what we want?

Strip Joe of his chairmanship. And convince a couple of Rs to vote with us - we won't have to fear the veto, so the faux filibuster will not work as often as it does now.

  • Hillary will never get my willing vote, not because she voted for war in Afghanistan or even Iraq, but because she voted for Kyle-Lieberman, the AMUF for IRAN, which also designates the Iranian Army to be a terrorist organization (violating the 3rd Geneva convention). She did this full knowing that Bushco falsifies intelligence, will not let the UN do inspections, will not negotiate in good faith, and the rest of the gin mill to war, any war. She voted to spend American blood and treasure on another illegal preemptive war. That is 'Publican turf, which she has demonstrated that she owns with her support of NAFTA, her smears of Moveon.org, her targeting of Obama rather than McCain and so on. I don't know how her actions will playout in the the short or long run, I just know I'm not in favor of her now, though I will hold my nose and vote for her in the general if it comes to that.

  • My use of HTML didn't work out so well. Trying again:

Notice that the FBI close the investigation 13 days BEFORE the election:

The FBI office in New Haven found no evidence supporting the Lieberman campaign's allegations that supporters of primary challenger Ned Lamont of Greenwich were to blame for the Web site crash.

Lieberman, who was fighting for his political life against the anti-Iraq war candidate Lamont, implied that joe2006.com was hacked by Lamont supporters.
"The server that hosted the joe2006.com Web site failed because it was overutilized and misconfigured. There was no evidence of (an) attack," according to the e-mail.
A program that could have detected a legitimate attack was improperly configured, the e-mail states.
"New Haven will be administratively closing this investigation," it concluded.
The e-mail, dated Oct. 25, 2006, was included in a technical packet of information recently sent to The Advocate in response to requests under the Freedom of Information Act filed in late 2006 with the offices of state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and U.S. Attorney Kevin O'Connor.

Lieberman was dishonest in not disclosing that fact for 13 days.

  • DKos blogger dengre has regularly documented the Abramoff 65 crooks, liars, thieves, and other slime, highlighting crimes in the Commonwealth of the Marianas. Only 100,000 people but so much has gone wrong, not the least of which are the 750,000 documents John McCain is sitting upon. The Marianas are a microcosm of the corruption that is rampant in our government. Check out dengre's work.

This is no blond bimbo. The administration must have some very good liars to get all the illegalities past so many people with out anyone asking for the originating legal basis for the actions commonly known to be illegal.
