No, just since 1936, Landon, Wilkie, Stevenson (1952 &1956), Goldwater, McGovern, Carter, and Mondale all failed to crack 45%. Landon, Goldwater, and McGovern couldn't crack 40%. In other words, in half the 18 elections since 1936, the loser has gotten less than 45%.

I'm not sure Christian conservatives will. I know plenty of CCs and many of them have had unwed pregnancies in their household. They just suck it up like everybody else. The main difference is the rate at which those pregnancies end in abortion is probably lower (but who can know?).

Do you have any evidence that he has in fact done so? Why wouldn't he had taken up Islam as a somewhat alienated young man if he had sympathies in that direction engrained in him? When you say you have a sympathy for "Jewish causes" do you think that is because of your early upbringing or because of the universal appeal of those causes?

Why, oh, why don't dems use the summer to define the republican? They never do and we have lost each time.

As we know, the Clintons are the only Democrats who have avoided the pattern you described for the past 32 years. Let's hope that Obama this fall will mark a permanent end to it.

Not a threat at all, dude. I'm disappointed that you would think so. I'm on board but I'm sick and tired of the attempts to pass blame for whatever may be going wrong with the campaign off on Clinton. It does tend to dampen enthusiasm. As for catharsis, I don't see anything wrong with that and those who focus on such things are akin to those who rearranged the deck chairs on the Titanic, though hopefully this isn't the Titanic.
