  • Great! Open season on McPalin now! Lets see: Keating and the S&L crisis, Cheating on hiss first wife after she was disfigured in an auto accident, Cindy's father's jail time, her uncle too, his plane crashes and disciplinary record in the Naval Academy, his gambling, the Palin's treason, Troopergate, lets have some ads about this stuff. I'm ready...

  • You know, I watched the audience tracker on CNN and it consistently showed higher scores for Obama on positive tracks and showed the biggest negatives when McCain attacked. So I'm not surprised by these results.

But I think a HUGE part here is Obama didn't lose. Even with McCain's contempt, he belonged on that stage with McCain and THAT will pay huge dividends. A lot of fence sitters were waiting to see if Obama really belonged up there on that stage, and he laid that to rest tonight.

  • Its going to fucking work. McCain will get two points in the polls because of this shit

Posted at September 24, 2008 4:46 PM in response to McCain Campaign's Version Of Events

  • This has all the smell of the Palin pick, do something 'dramatic' to try to change the game. What's is fucking unbelievable is that it was Obama's honest attempt to actually do something to take presidential politics out of the game that put the idea in McCain's head, and he fucking stabbed Obama in the back. And it might fucking work. McCain hasn't appeared 'presidential during all this, now he is tying to change the game.

If I were Obama, I woudl go up with adds tomorrow (when McCain is off the air) saying that the crisis is too important to play politics with, that he suggested and the campaigns are working on a joints statement of principles, and that McCain is choosing instead once again to hide from scrutiny while trying to make photo ops. Given the opportunity to do the right thing, McCain once again was more interested in his election than the welfare of the country.

  • You know, maybe the financial crisis has put McCain donors umm a little short right now...? ;-) $25 you can still spare, but $25000? Maybe not right now...

Posted at September 24, 2008 9:34 AM in response to Obama Dramatically Ramping Up Overall Ad Spending; Now Outgunning McCain

  • If this isn't a f&*^ing ad that writes itself and devastates McCain, I'm really missing it:

    Rick Davis Busted

If you work for a regular employer and just do a regular job, finding out about the work and finances of big-time Washington lobbyists can be eye-opening. I see them through the windows at the Palm, well-fed, chubby necks muffin-topping their crisp white collars, sharp knives slicing through the steaks, and wonder for a minute how they can endure the sheer boredom of their existence and where all that money really comes from. In Rick Davis's case, it comes from Freddie Mac:

The two sources, who requested anonymity discussing sensitive information, told Newsweek that Davis himself approached Freddie Mac in 2006 and asked for a new consulting arrangement that would allow his firm to continue to be paid. The arrangement was approved by Hollis McLoughlin, Freddie Mac's vice president for external relations, because "he [Davis] was John McCain's campaign manager and it was felt you couldn't say no," said one of the sources. [McLoughlin did not return phone calls].

Davis did next to nothing for the money.

This was classic corporate insurance, shaken down by someone in their pocket. And this person is running the McCain campaign and telling the public not to talk about issues. Meanwhile, McCain has no clue on this, as he seems to have no clue about Palin:

On Sunday, in an interview with CNBC and The New York Times, Mr. McCain responded to a question about Mr. Davis's role in the advocacy group through 2005 by saying that his campaign manager "has had nothing to do with it since, and I'll be glad to have his record examined by anybody who wants to look at it."

Do we really want an out-of-it president surrounded by corporate lobbying sleazeballs?

Posted at September 18, 2008 8:13 PM in response to McCain Campaign Falsely Attacks Obama For Something He Hasn't Said Yet

  • I would add that 1.2m is 2% of last MONTH'S haul, hardly a big influence. But having 7 lobbyists managing your campaign and over 100 working on it, I'm sure they aren't just doing that out of the goodness of their hearts....
