  • I guess Conyers can go back to sleep now.

  • Following up on the heels of the Wes Clark "scandal" this is just more rightwing disinformation. At this point, all they can do is try and confuse the voters. They certainly can't campaign on their record of accomplishments.

Reality check: it really doesn't matter what Obama says he's going to do re Iraq. The Dems and Repubs in the House & Senate are not going to let him withdraw in 16 months. I guarentee that once we have a Dem president, the Dems in the House & Senate will stymie everything he wants to do. Ironic, huh?

  • Suddenly, FISA has become more important than the 50,000 troops dodging bullets and bombs each in Iraq. FISA has suddenly become more important than the 45 million Americans without health insurance. FISA has suddenly become more important than the 35 million Americans living in poverty.

It's not *more* important. It's JUST as important. The Bush administration and broken the law. Many times. Over many issues. And the Dems have consistenly CAVED instead of demanding accountability. Some of us thought that, when the Dems became the MAJORITY, things would change. They didn't. Some of us thought Obama wanted things to CHANGE. (How many times has he uttered that word?!). It's beginning to appear that, once again, things won't really change. We're going to stay in an illegal, manufactured war and neither the Bushies or their enablers will be brought to justice for their chronic lawbreaking (or as Obabm puts it "The politics of the past"). It's really a shame.

  • I also don't see the as Obama bashing. He clearly said one thing (multiple times) and then did a 180 on this extremely important issue. There's still time for him to stand up to lawlessness.

And now we have a THIRD federal judge ruling against BushCo on this very issue. See:

  • I'm expecting an apology from Clark before the night is through. That will complete the Rightwing "Circle of Disinformation" maneuver.

    Well played!

Posted at June 30, 2008 4:54 PM in response to Obama Campaign Condemns Wes Clark's Comments About McCain

  • Let me make sure I've got this straight: Obama blames the counter-culture demonstrators for disrepecting the soldiers who fought in Vietnam?
What about the Johnson & Nixon administrations? Don't ya think they have a wee bit more share of that particular burden? Christ, we wanted the soldiers HOME, so no more would die or be tortured or maimed. Sort of like today.

Obama seems to have an overly-simplistic view of the '60s and is losing more of my confidence with everything he's saying.

  • It doesn't matter what Clark actually said. It's the PERCEPTION of what he said that's important. The Rightwingers are master of spreading perception deception and when the Dems then buy into the false perception (as Obama just did by "rejecting" Clark's statements) it's just the icing on the cake for them. Mission complete.

  • do the tenor of the Obama camp's responses seem to have become more wimpy since acquiring some of Hillary's personnel?

No. It's Obama's (misguided) rationale that moving to the "center" will help him win.
