It's time to do a poll of Faux News viewers: How do you feel about China drilling our oil off the coast of Cuba while Congressional Democrats keep blocking our God-given right to fill up our Hummers at $2 a gallon?
Isn't that how it goes? Remember the numbers on how many Faux News viewers who to this day believe there were WMDs in Iraq?

Unfortunately, Obama has a base that is fearful of nuclear energy. I'm not one of those.
Does this mean that you have come up with an acceptable disposal method for nuclear waste? Or some methodology that produces no waste?
Maybe you just mean that you have faith that a means will be found, sort of like McCain's daydream about 2013 when all will be hugs and kisses in Iraq.
I propose that we store nuclear waste in your backyard for the meantime, especially if you're still in the baby-making business. If you're past that age, we could go for your grandchildren's back yard. We promise to put it in the safest containers we know about. No problem.

It's possible he's owned this house since before Prop 13 was passed in 1978-or maybe she has. Prop 13 froze the property tax rate and only allows a small increase each year for houses owned by the same person (or family in case of an inheritance) since 1978. People who have bought since 1978 pay a much higher tax.
For instance, we pay only about $1,000 per year on our house although it was never worth anything close to the value of a condo in La Jolla (pronounced "la hoy-ya"). That low tax rate helped keep us solvent when our children were growing up (#3 and last was on the way when Prop 13 passed) and we were living on a school teacher's salary. It also meant that we've never moved on from our starter house, and now it's just the right size for the 2 of us again.

You know the media will be chattering...
Which is exactly my question - Who's running these debates? I just can't stand one more debate peppered with the most inconsequential trivia dragging on and on while matters of substance are ignored. !!!

From another point of view:
Alaska gets talked about all the time, mostly for Arctic oil reserves, but also for their fine contribution to Congress (*hack*hack*). If someone gets munched by a bear or falls off a glacier, we may hear about it. What do Alaskan people get? Not much. I understand they have huge unemployment, high alcoholism rates, and a school system that pretty much sucks. Government paydays based on oil revenue don't really make up for these serious quality of life issues.
If Obama is the current symbol of Hope and Change, maybe Alaska is the place he needs to be. Not that I actually ever see candidates here in San Diego, but I know they show up, especially Republican ones, to have very expensive fund raiser lunches or stand on aircraft carrier decks or whatever. They know my piece of the world exists. They recognize we have issues. Obama in Alaska could bring a sense of connection to Alaskans, which may also translate to votes, but maybe that's not the main point. A president should represent all Americans, even the ones that may not vote for him. Obama's time will not be "wasted" there regardless of how many votes he sways.

As the parent of an offspring about to be posted on a first assignment for the State Dept., my understanding is that 2 yrs is the rule. I think the problem is that if one spends too long in one place, the diplomatic version of Stockholm Syndrome might come into play. I suspect that the same is true for military attaches.

Had the ammo been of reasonable quality, a way might have been found around the Chinese problem-maybe. As I recall, the recipients complained that it was so old, corroded, and unstable, as to be virtually unusable. I suspect the explosion at the weapons depot may have been directly linked to the condition of this stored ammo. Petraeus is a soldier first and he'd know bad stuff when he saw it. Diveroli looks as he might have the same degree of expertise regarding that recreational white stuff that is prized in some circles.

I guess that last candidate should have gone with
When I was 6 I wanted to be a fireman. Although I am still a volunteer firefighter, but only on fires affecting registered Republicans, I saw the light when I was 12 and realized what was really important in life. I joined the Young Republicans at my middle school, and by high school was doing important work for our local candidates. I specialized in removal of opponents' signs, and attempted seduction of their nubile daughters. As an undergrad, I was assigned more sophisticated work as an oppo researcher, and that led me to an interest in the law. My first choice was Liberty Law, but they were full, so I had to settle for Harvard. Even so, I have learned how to apply my strong Christian beliefs to the law so they they can become one and the same. I am ready to take my oath to our President and help the DOJ make this country over in his image.

I used to teach middle school science. Not a year went by that some 6th grader would be reading aloud for the class and would come across the word "organism" and say "orgasm." Lots of snickers ensued with the reader generally having no clue what was funny. I always kept a straight face.

So how long could they make Harriet and Josh share a single cell (the one in the basement, not the one brain cell they have between the two of them)?
Since habeus corpus is severely challenged these days, perhaps they could be confined for years and years without recourse to the courts.
