  • Good point, Aubie84, though, as someone with the same name as the author (though I spell my first name correctly :) I gotta go with his fully intending that point, since, like me, he must have a vast intelligence.

It's important that someone other than seculars point out the divisiveness of Dobson's remarks. He didn't have to read Obama's statement as such a firebrand issue; While most people would agree that abortion is not a good thing, women should be included in the discussion, rather than a bunch of white men in religious garb telling them how to run their lives and denouncing them out of hand. The Religious Right's support for the war is another way in which the lack of discussion is apparent. Rah rah, or you're a commie terrist-supporting mooslem. The war on drugs; man, there's a lot of talking that needs be done on a host of issues.

  • Good aftermoon, cscs.

I kinda like having someone with Steve's foreign policy knowledge providing the options available. He's not the only one out here, so 'compare and contrast' has been berry berry good to me.

  • Good morning, Ms. Warren.

your commentary speaks to the heart of our problems today. The Military-Industrial complex doen't need a college to be for the public good. they only need so many elite to help plan policy. they need many more to be educated just enough to follow orders, competently. Less money and opportunities for poorer students means more fodder for imperialist plans.

  • One thing I can guarantee doesn't come up in these 'follow up hearings' and other so-called consumer protection attempts is, as Brook Dataski aptly describes, the protection of the gullible from themselves. As someone who has at least tried on 'sucker's shoes',(I bought my last two cars at the first dealership I went to, without even looking up any info from the intertubes, first!)I can grok how easy many of us are to a good sales pitch. Maybe the best we can hope for is that the gullible are the exception rather than the rule.

I think what make TPM and affiliates a better fit for me is, contrary to Kos and others, you tell us what's happening, then we comment. Great. I don't trust my own lying eyes because I don't know all the angles to all the stories coming out today. Many sites are putting up commentary from normal joes like me as content, which is fine I guess, but it's not always the whole story.

  • Thanks for this, Mr. Gitlin. I seem to always forget the mindset back then when I see the images of that awful incident and it's aftermath.

  • "After reading the comments by almost everyone on this thread one would come to the conclusion that current U.S. soldiers serving in Iraq are not of the same breed or quality as those who fought in the Second World War." No one here said anything like that. Nice try. As for the rest of your claptrap, how long did Tony and you talk about this; you sure know how to fill in all the spaces in the fantasy card.
