  • How about fighting as if you were serious about it. How about actually believing in your own rhetoric. How about fighting as if you really wanted to make a real change. If the Democrats did that, then....

  • What's that old joke? Something like:
Jeff: Why are you whistling Jim?
Jim: To keep the elephants away.
Jeff: There are no elephants around here.
    Jim: See, it works.

  • Great post.
You are right to focus on the role the media is playing in the devastation of any hope of an egalitarian future. What some don't easily recognize is that this role is a self reinforcing cycle, a very dangerous feedback loop on which the governor has been removed. Contributing to the power of this cycle is ever more sophisticated psychological and social science research on how to reach ever deeper into the psyche of the victimized class.
There is another feedback loop that meshes with the economic power/ media control loop to speed our demise ever faster. That is a psychological loop within a majority of us. The more aware of the mess we're in the more we look for solace in the very distorted, pathological uber-matrialism that has led us to this sorry state. It all seems so shiny and promising. We confuse needs with wants because our wants can be satisfied by this wretched system while our needs languish.
How do you stop a runaway chain reaction? You don't do it with timid actions, that's for sure.

  • You are right. This whole contractors/ privatization shift in running the government stinks from the inside out. Cronyism, kickbacks, downward wage pressure, anti-unionism, liability issues, enforcement issues on and on.

  • You saying that you guys have been in the dark to some degree is in itself helpful I think. Part of the frustration I've felt and possibly others may have felt as well is the sense of being left swinging in the wind as it were, not knowing if our concerns were still on the to-do list there or not.

I've suspected that you guys may not have wanted to come right out and say that things are a little out of control, creates a bad image and all that. I actually think that in this medium, particularly, the important thing is to not try to appear as something you are not. Your forte is the intimacy of two way communication. When we think you're not hearing us it ain't good. As it turns out you're not "them" but more "us" after all, we're in the boat together as it were.

What you are selling is trust. You don't need to be perfect wizards at web tech to build trust. Trust is built when we think we are hearing each other.

    OK 'nuff said I guess.
