SPLC: MLK Day Bomb Suspect Was Member Of Supremacist Group


The FBI released photos of the backpack and the T-shirts inside.

The Southern Poverty Law Center tells The Spokesman-Review that Kevin William Harpham, the man arrested in connection with with a bomb found along a Martin Luther King Day parade route in Spokane, Wash., earlier this year, was a member of a white supremacist organization.

But not because she gives the designation any credence. On the contrary, Geller -- the blogger behind Atlas Shrugs and one of the most vociferous opponents to a planned Muslim community center near Ground Zero in New York City -- says "a slam from the SPLC is a badge of honor."

Expert: Hutaree Were 'Right Smack In The Middle Of The Militia Movement'

Conventional militia organizations are racing to distance themselves from the Hutaree -- the Christian-based militia whose members were charged yesterday with conspiring to kill law enforcement as part of their preparation for the coming battle with the Anti-Christ. But that may be a tall order.

Appearing on CNN this morning, Michael Lackomar, a member of the Southeast Michigan Volunteer Militia, called the Hutaree -- also primarily based in Michigan -- "really a fringe group outside of anything we do."
